NDRITZ Completes CHP Boiler Retrofit in Zagreb, Driving Large-scale Renewal of Outdated Thermal Equipment in Europe
Austrian industrial leader ANDRITZ Group successfully delivered a combined heat and power (CHP) boiler replacement project in Zagreb, Croatia. The original high-pressure steam boiler suffered from aging structure, low thermal efficiency, high long-term maintenance costs and excessive exhaust emissions. The plant was upgraded with a new low-pressure gas-fired steam boiler of 63 tons per hour with a working pressure of 14–17 bar(g).
After renovation, the reliability of Zagreb’s district heating network is greatly strengthened, fuel utilization efficiency is remarkably improved, and all emission parameters fully comply with strict EU environmental standards for medium combustion plants. This project has become a replicable benchmark for energy-saving upgrades of aging CHP plants across Europe.
